Beth’s Blog - Hand Stamped & Handwriting Jewelry Designs Beth’s Blog Hand Stamped & Handwriting Jewelry Designs Menu Blog Home Shop Our Store Our Story Learn More Why Order from Us? Customer Reviews Hand Stamped Jewelry Tips Personalized Jewelry Care Fingerprint Jewelry: As Unique as You Are See how you can have your loved one’s fingerprint engraved in silver or gold to create a one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry What is Fingerprint Jewelry? With our fingerprint jewelry, we etch/engrave your loved one’s actual fingerprint into a piece of precious metal jewelry. You can choose from necklaces , bracelets , rings , key chains , and more. Fingerprint jewelry is a beautiful way to welcome a new baby, or to honor someone you’ve lost in a piece of memorial jewelry. Or why not have your own print immortalized in sterling silver as an anniversary gift? How it Works When you send us your fingerprint (or thumbprint), we painstakingly analyze the image, clean it up to remove flaws and enhance the details, and convert it to a black & white image. Then we engrave it deeply into the metal to create your jewelry. For some smaller pieces, we’ll extract a section of the fingerprint, so that the detail is clear. For larger pieces, we can put the entire print, if you wish. We can extract a distinct part of the print for a smaller piece of jewelry, or use the whole print How to Get a Great Fingerprint to Use Getting a great fingerprint to use on your jewelry is easy. If you already have a fingerprint you would like to use, just send us a well-lit, close-up photo of it. For memorial pieces, a funeral home often can provide the family with the fingerprint. We can use an image of that print. If you’re not sure if your fingerprint will work, just contact us . We’re happy to take a look. If you need to create a fingerprint, don’t worry. It’s easy! We’ve created a video to show you just how to do it. That’s it! Once we have your print, we’ll get started making a piece you’ll treasure forever. A piece of jewelry that has the profile of some famous or mythical female is great. But what if you could get the profile of YOUR favorite person? At Heart On Your Wrist, our cameo necklace that does just that. Just send us an image of your loved one(s), and we’ll create a piece of silver jewelry from it. Here are some ideas on how to take a picture that will make a great cameo piece of jewelry. If you have any questions, just contact us, and we’ll be happy to help you take the right photo, or choose from the photos you might already have. How to take a great picture for a cameo A photo from ear level against a plain background will make a great cameo T ake the photo directly from the side, at ear level Have your subject look straight out to the side , not down Take your picture against a plain background With longer hair, consider putting it in a ponytail or a bun Send us the full resolution image , so we can capture every detail The most important thing is to get your subject from the side, so his or her facial features are distinct. You’ll want to take the photo directly from the side, at ear level , not from above. If your subject is facing the camera, you won’t capture the outline of their face. With small children, it’s best for the photographer to get down (or raise the child up) to be able to shoot from about their ear level. If you have a squirmy baby that won’t hold still, it can be easier to take a photo while they’re sleeping. (This tip works with oppositional teens, too ? Have your subject look straight ahead, not down, so that you have a more distinct chin line. Try to take your picture against a plain background , so that your subject’s facial features are clear. If your subject has longer hair, consider putting it in a ponytail or a bun , so that you can see the outline of the head better. Then, just send us the full resolution image, and we can get to work creating your cameo . Questions, comments? Feel free to contact us . We’re here to help! Author Beth Posted on December 20, 2021 March 6, 2022 Categories Silhouette Jewelry , Uncategorized How Many Words Can I Put on My Handwriting Jewelry Piece? We don’t have a limit but we do try to provide guidelines on what we recommend on the product page. The more words you put on a charm, the smaller the handwriting ends up. But many words in small handwriting can still look really nice on a charm. (NOTE: we will always reach out to you with options if we think your handwriting might not come out in a way that would make you absolutely thrilled.) For example, we have done one large word on a silver handwriting guitar pick and it looked great. Guitar pick (with jump ring added so the customer could put is on a necklace) We also did an entire letter on a pick and while the writing was small, it was readable and looked amazing. Silver Guitar Pick with Your Handwriting, shown with original handwriting If you are unsure if something will fit on a charm, or want to know the best options, just send it to us. We’re more than happy to take a look! Questions, comments? Feel free to contact us . We’re here to help! Author Beth Posted on November 10, 2021 March 6, 2022 Categories Uncategorized Creating Personalized Silhouette Jewelry with Your Own Photos Silhouette jewelry is a unique style of personalized jewelry that allows you to capture an image of your favorite person or people (or even pet), and turn it into a truly meaningful and unique keepsake. You send us an image of your loved one(s), and we’ll create a piece of silver jewelry from it. Here are some ideas on how to take a picture that will make a great piece of silhouette jewelry. If you have any questions, just contact us , and we’ll be happy to help you take the right photo, or choose from the photos you might already have. How it works Our expert digital artists painstakingly select the person or people from your photo, then create a version that’s completely black. Next, we remove the background and replace it with white. Getting the details just right is essential to make sure the final silhouette piece captures your subject’s unique qualities. Then, we take that silhouette and etch/engrave it onto the charm that you’ve chosen, and use that to create your one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry. The image at the top of this post is our My Silhouettes Necklace , but we can also put your silhouette on just about any product that we sell, including key chains (popular gifts for dad) & charm bracelets . Show off your beautiful family with their silhouette on a sterling silver key chain How to take a great picture for a silhouette The silhouette will capture the outline of your subject. Ideally, your subject will be standing at your level, against a fairly uniform background. Having arms or legs a little away from the body will make for a silhouette that captures the subject’s distinct outline. The subject has her legs & arms slightly away from her sides. By turning her head, we also get some of her hair & facial features in our silhouette You can encourage your subject to get a little crazy. These can make for great silhouettes, and that really capture your child’s spirit. Have fun with your silhouette! If you keep your arms too close to your sides, you’ll get something like this. Maybe not the most exciting silhouette? Encourage your subject to relax a bit and have fun! If you’re not sure which image would work best, just ask us. We’ll be happy to look at the images you have and help you decide. Questions, comments? Feel free to...
